Health Science Policy Analyst, OPPP

The Office of Pain Policy and Planning advances pain research on a national level; coordinates and supports trans-NIH pain research and activities through the NIH Pain Consortium and trans-agency pain research through the Interagency Pain Research Coordinating Committee; advises and coordinates the pain related components of the trans-NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term℠ (HEAL) initiative.

The candidate will work in a team-based and team-supported environment to promote and enhance pain research efforts across NIH. He or she will provide guidance and assistance to leadership of NINDSNIH and other HHS agencies on pain research and pain policies. This responsibility may be in the form of written statements and reports, oral presentations, and strategic planning.

The candidate will work independently through collaborative relationships across NIH to coordinate planning, analysis and evaluation activities to promote and enhance pain research across NIH and other agencies. Scientific knowledge in the area of pain research and pain management and in policies relevant to improving pain management is a priority for this position. Excellent skills in communication and outreach will be needed to support activities of the NIH Pain Consortium, the Interagency Pain Research Coordinating Committee and the NIH HEAL initiative. The candidate should have excellent analytical as well as oral and written communication skills.

The position will be filled under a Title 5 GS-601-14 appointment. Salary is commensurate with the experience and a full package of Civil Service benefits is available, including retirement, health and life insurance, leave, and savings plan (401K equivalent).
