Miriam Goodman, Ph.D.

Research Program Award (R35)

Dr. Goodman’s research focuses on the skin-neuron composite tissues responsible for touch, deciphering how mechanical forces on the skin ultimately give rise to tactile perception. Understanding neuronal function and sensitivity to mechanical and chemical stress is vital to health. This research program will use a suite of approaches to investigate the molecular basis of touch sensation, leveraging this knowledge to study how chemical stressors linked to diabetes and chemotherapy affect skin-neuron composites.
