Genomic rearrangements often underlie many neurological diseases, but recent work suggests they are much more complex than anticipated. Dr. Lupski’s program will investigate these complex mutations through a variety of molecular approaches to delineate the basis for irregular molecular duplications and/or omissions. This work will lend further insight into the mutational mechanisms driving gene and genome evolution that can cause neurological disease.
