Brain tumors in adults are often fatal, but their heterogeneous genetic alterations present challenges for developing successful treatment therapies. Dr. Mellinghoff’s program seeks to establish therapeutic strategies that exploit common genetic alterations in three tumor types through the evaluation of tumor biopsies, genetic and pharmacological approaches, and quantification of intra-tumor heterogeneity. Collectively, this work aims to provide a framework for mechanisms of combination-based tumor therapies.
