Dr. Broihier’s laboratory investigates the development of neural circuits. In particular, they study molecular mechanisms controlling neuronal communication in Drosophila, combining genetic, cellular, and electrophysiological approaches to analyze the interaction of neurons with their environment during development. Trainees described Dr. Broihier’s dedication to helping them identify career paths that fit with their personal and professional goals, which synergizes with the high value that she places on developing independent thinkers who are capable of conducting rigorous work.
