NINDS K99/R00 Awardee - May 2019

N. Sumru Bayin is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Developmental Biology Program at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. Using the mouse cerebellum as a model system, her research in the lab of Dr. Alexandra Joyner aims to understand how stem cells achieve repair during development, why their regenerative potential decreases with age, and how the knowledge gained from studying the developing cerebellum can be used to formulate strategies to enable and enhance regeneration. She received her Ph.D. in stem cell biology from New York University, and earned her BSc and MSc in molecular biology and genetics from Bilkent University.
