Awarded Project
Dr. Conn aims to identify novel drug targets for diseases of the nervous system. His current research focuses on metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs), a group of neurotransmitter receptors that play important roles in modulating neuronal activity. By studying the pharmacological and functional profiles of distinct types and combinations of mGluRs, Dr. Conn hopes to develop ways to selectively target different receptor types for the treatment of conditions such as Parkinson’s disease, schizophrenia, and anxiety disorders.
