Dr. Keith W. Whitaker joined the NINDS as Scientific Project Manager for AD/ADRD in 2020. He co-leads the Alzheimer’s Disease-Related Dementias (ADRD) Summits and planning effort. These summits, which are responsive to the National Plan to Address Alzheimer’s Disease and set national priorities to guide dementia research through 2025, are triennial and complement the NIA-led AD and Dementia Care summits. Dr. Whitaker received his bachelor’s degree in the neurobiological sciences from the University of Florida and his PhD in neuroscience from The University of Texas at Austin. He went on to work for several years as a biologist with the US Army Research Laboratory’s Human Research and Engineering Directorate where he contributed to a variety of projects related to neurotechnology and Soldier performance optimization. Prior to joining NINDS, Keith was the Director of Scientific Affairs, Neuroscience at the BrightFocus Foundation.
