Dr. Diana Cummings is a Scientific Review Officer (SRO) at NINDS, and currently runs the Translational Neural, Brain, and Pain Relief Devices Special Emphasis Panel.


Dr. Diana Cummings is a Scientific Review Officer (SRO) at NINDS, and currently runs the Translational Neural, Brain, and Pain Relief Devices Special Emphasis Panel. She received her B.S. in Psychology from Duke University and her Ph.D. in Neuroscience from the University of Virginia. Dr. Cummings conducted postdoctoral research at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and the NINDS Intramural Research Program, where she studied the roles of activity and adult-generated stem cells in the plasticity of olfactory system neural circuitry. Prior to joining the Scientific Review Branch, she supported extramural research in the areas of traumatic brain injury (TBI), spinal cord injury (SCI), and stem cells as a Health Program Specialist in the Repair and Plasticity Cluster at NINDS. Dr. Cummings’ scientific expertise is in the areas of neural plasticity, development, stem cells, sensory systems, and neurotrauma.
