Position Description:  NINDS is seeking a Health Program Specialist with neuroscience training and expertise to support extramural programs within the Systems and Cognitive Neurosciences (SCN) Cluster in the Division of Neuroscience. This position will provide support to Program Directors overseeing grants, cooperative agreements and contracts on topics including sensation, perception, cognition, motor control and complex behaviors, homeostatic regulation of cyclic and appetitive behaviors such as sleep, activity, feeding, and drinking, analysis of neural circuits and systems and peripheral and central mechanisms of pain and pain perception and development of strategies to alleviate chronic pain. In addition, the cluster participates in programs including the BRAIN Initiative, HEAL Initiative, and Parkinson Disease Biomarker Program. The incumbent will assist with management, planning, coordination, evaluation and communication of the research grants. He/She will assist in development of scientific initiatives and analysis of their success, coordination of pre- and post- award financial planning of grants, and coordination and planning of workshops and meetings. Additional duties will include identifying and routing appropriate projects within the NINDS and SCN portfolios, communication of relevant research information and participation in various Institute and NIH programs and activities. The successful candidate should demonstrate expertise, experience and/or educational background in neuroscience or related discipline with critical thinking skills in the scientific areas listed above.

This is a Federal GS-11, GS-12 or GS-13 position located in Montgomery County, MD. Level is based upon individual qualifications and professional experience. A full benefits package is available, which includes Thrift Savings Plan participation, health, life and long-term care insurance
