Health Program Specialist - Neurodegeneration Cluster (NDG)

Position Description:  NINDS is seeking a Health Program Specialist (HPS) to support research programs in the Neurodegeneration (NDG) cluster within the Division of Neuroscience (DON). The successful candidate will provide essential support for administration of grants and cooperative agreements within the field of neurodegeneration. This includes a broad scope of research on adult-onset neurodegenerative diseases, including mechanistic studies of disease pathogenesis as well as preclinical therapeutic development and other interventional and preventative approaches. The HPS will work with Program Directors to provide scientific expertise and support in the management, planning, coordination, evaluation and communication of the NDG research grant programs. Relevant skills include but are not limited to: critical analysis of neuroscience literature and experimental research plans; analytic, statistical and bioinformatics knowledge; planning and coordination of workshops and conferences; and ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Finally, the candidate should demonstrate expertise, experience and/or educational background in neuroscience, preferably in one or more of the following scientific areas: genetic, molecular and cellular basis of neural degeneration, or translational or clinical research on neurodegenerative disorders of adult onset, including but not limited to, Parkinson’s disease, Huntington’s disease, Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, and amyotrophic lateral sclerosis.

This is a Federal GS-11, GS-12 or GS-13 position located in Montgomery County MD. Level is based upon individual qualifications and professional experience.
