Position Description:  NINDS has a position vacancy for a Health Program Specialist to support extramural research activities in the neurosciences, including channels, synapses and circuits (CSC). The successful candidate will support Program Directors in the CSC Cluster in the Division of Neuroscience and will help coordinate activities and programs including basic research on channels and synapses, research on the disease mechanisms and interventions for the epilepsies, and research on channels and circuits including portions of the BRAIN Initiative portfolio. The duties will include identifying appropriate projects for the cluster portfolio, planning, coordination, evaluation of research grants and activities, communication of relevant research programs to internal and external stakeholders and participation in NINDS-wide committee and activities. The incumbent will develop knowledge and skills regarding NIH and NINDS policies, procedures, and tools and resources available for effective oversight of extramural grants. She/he will assist in development of scientific initiatives and analysis of their success, coordination of pre- and post- award financial planning of grants, and coordination and planning of workshops and meetings.

This is a Federal GS-11, GS-12 or GS-13 position located in Montgomery County MD. Level is based upon individual qualifications and professional experience. A full benefits package is available, which includes Thrift Savings Plan participation, health, life and long-term care insurance.
