Brief Description:
This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) issued by the Fogarty International Institute (FIC), the National Cancer Institute
(NCI), the National Institute on Aging (NIA), the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences (NIEHS), the Office
of Dietary Supplements, Office of the Director (ODS), the National Eye Institute (NEI), the National Institute of Mental Health
(NIMH), the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), and the National Institute of Biomedical Imaging
and Bioengineering (NIBIB) encourages Research Project Grant (R01) applications from institutions/organizations that propose
to conduct basic biomedical research relevant to global health. This program is intended to promote productive development
of foreign investigators from low- and middle-income countries (LMICs), trained in the U.S. or in their home countries through
an eligible NIH funded research or research training grant/award. It is expected that this program will stimulate research
on a wide variety of high priority health-related issues in those countries, and advance NIH efforts to address important
global health issues.
