Funding Contact(s): Katrina Gwinn, M.D.
Funding Categories: Neurodegeneration, Neurogenetics
Brief Description:
On March 16th, 2012, the NINDS issued two Funding Opportunity Announcements (FOAs): RFA-NS-12-010 - Exploratory Laboratory
and Analysis Projects in Parkinson's Disease Biomarkers (U18) and RFA-NS-12-011 - Studies in Parkinson's Disease Biomarkers
Discovery (U01). The goal of RFA-NS-12-010 is to stimulate innovation and development of technologies and reagents that will
accelerate the discovery of biological biomarkers for Parkinson’s disease (PD). The goal of RFA-NS-12-011 is to support hypothesis
driven clinical research to discover biomarkers that will improve the efficiency and outcome of Phase II clinical trials for
Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and to support the collection of clinical data and new biological specimens that will be used for
biomarker exploratory efforts under the NINDS Parkinson’s Disease Biomarkers Program (PDBP).
To date, several questions about these FOAs have been submitted from various investigators. The purpose of this Notice is
to inform potential applicants that a list of Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) and answers is available at (http://www.ninds.nih.gov/pdbp/).
