Julie Sieganthaler was a post-doctoral fellow at the University of California, San Francisco. In the laboratory of Sam Pleasure, her research project focused on using a rodent model of brain vasculature to understand how defects in forebrain development contribute to blood vessel malformations. Additional work sought to expand our understanding of what controls the formation of the vasculature in and around the cerebral cortex, shedding light on the etiology of congenital vascular malformations as well as pathways that can be reactivated during stroke recovery. She earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Neurobiology from SUNY Upstate Medical University and her B.A. in Neuroscience and Behavior from Mount Holyoke College.
