Dr. Janet (Yejun) He joined the NINDS Division of Extramural Research in 2003 as a Health Program Specialist in the Systems and Cognitive Neuroscience cluster. After obtaining an M.D. degree from the Shanghai Second Medical University in China, she started graduate study in the Department of Physiology & Biophysics at the University of Colorado Medical School. She used a combination of molecular biology, biochemistry and electrophysiology approaches to study the subunit arrangement and function of the cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channel in the retina and received her Ph.D. in 2000. Prior to joining the NINDS, Dr. He did postdoctoral training at the Washington University in St. Louis focusing on excitatory and inhibitory synaptic transmission in cultured mammalian hippocampal neurons.
